This past weekend my boyfriend's sister and I (with the help of the brothers) threw a surprise party for their mother. It was a success! It was a casual outdoor event, decorated with outdoor lanterns, sunflowers, a white tent and globe string lights. It was the perfect summer party. If I had more time/budget, I would have covered the chairs with linen and bows, but hey, it turned out pretty well. We made two types of sangria, and enough food for a hundred people- mostly apps and easy finger foods. Oh, and cupcakes. Lots and lots of cupcakes!
The two favorite (and easiest) dishes I made were caprese skewers and goat cheese pesto crostada. They looked so pretty too!
